Raffaele Ciuca bridal boutique marks 70 years at Melbourne Fashion Week
A 70-year-old bridal boutique in Brunswick was founded by Italian immigrant Raffaele Ciuca. It debuts at Melbourne Fashion Week on October 23.
Raffaele arrived in Melbourne in 1952 with a suitcase and tailoring skills passed down through four generations of his Italian family. Raffaele and his wife Tina started a tailoring business in Coburg that became a bridal destination.
The couple's daughters Patricia and Claudia now run it. The boutique carries designers like Vivienne Westwood, Berta and Steven Khalil.
It has dressed celebrities like Grace Ireland and Jasmine Garuccio. For the anniversary, Raffaele Ciuca will show pieces at the Immigration Museum.
This honours the family's seventy-year history in Melbourne.
