Trial hears Crawford's wife wanted him out of the Air Force

Court heard Frances Crawford wanted her husband to leave the Air Force, a source of marital strain.

Robert Crawford, a former RAAF pilot, is on trial for the murder of his wife Frances, 49, in the Supreme Court in Brisbane. Mark Seery, Crawford's commanding officer, told the jury that Crawford discussed marriage difficulties with him in 2023 and 2024, often becoming upset.

The officer said Frances did not want Crawford to remain in the Air Force and that his travel for work was a source of tension. Crawford modified his duties, moving to local flights only, to ease stress at home.

Frances's body was found in July 2024 at the bottom of a retaining wall on their Upper Lockyer property beside an overturned ride-on lawn mower. Prosecutors say Crawford caused her death and staged the scene as an accident.

Crawford denies the charge.
