Sam Wood loses DBG Health backing after domestic violence charges
Billionaire investor Dennis Bastas ended ties with Sam Wood after domestic violence charges.
Sam Wood is 46 and in custody in Maroochydore, Queensland. He was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation.
The charges relate to a domestic incident in Noosa on Saturday night. On Tuesday, billionaire Dennis Bastas ended all business ties with Wood.
His DBG Health empire did the same right away. Bastas bought the 28 by Sam Wood fitness business for $71 million in 2022.
Wood stayed on as the public face of the platform. Beyond the investor, other people have left the brand.
Trainer Tiffiny Hall ended her partnership. Influencer Jules Robinson did the same.
Trainer Tania Monk also left. Actor Tammin Sursok distanced himself from the brand.
Meal delivery business Foxes Den also ended its partnership. Wood's lawyer said he would defend the charges.
A bail application is scheduled for Thursday.
