Fork used to crack Shamrock Hotel Bendigo strongroom in $170k theft trial
Scott Gray, 49, is accused of using a fork to open the strongroom and stealing $170,000 in cash on 5 February 2025.
Scott Andrew Gray is on trial at Bendigo County Court for theft and burglary at the Shamrock Hotel. Prosecutors say he entered the well-known venue at 5am, used a fork to crack open the strongroom, and spray-painted CCTV cameras before stealing about $170,000 from tills, poker machines, ATMs and wagering terminals.
CCTV footage allegedly shows him inside the strongroom. Gray has pleaded not guilty.
He previously worked at the hotel from October 2022 to June 2023 and had an on-and-off relationship with the assistant manager.
