Ryman signed 379 new retirement living contracts in the quarter, including 312 resales up 14% year-on-year.
Aged care company Ryman Healthcare says the "soft" housing market has not dented demand for its retirement living. In a trading update, Ryman said 379 new customers signed up for retirement living contracts in the quarter.
Of the 379, 312 were resales, up 14% year-on-year and the highest level in eight quarters. Ryman's unsold retirement apartments fell by 67 to 347.
Ryman's full-year forecast of 157 to 169 new retirement units and aged care beds is on track. Aged care occupancy rose 3.3 percentage points to 94%.
Occupancy at mature aged care centres dipped to 95.4% from 95.7%, which Ryman linked to winter illness in some New Zealand villages.
