Dane Rampe retires after 289 Swans games and 25 finals
The 36-year-old champion retired after 14 seasons, ranking fourth in finals appearances.
Dane Rampe has called time on his extraordinary career with the Sydney Swans. The defender played 289 games across 14 seasons, the seventh-most in club history, and made 25 finals appearances, fourth-most all time.
Dane Rampe earned All-Australian honours in 2016, won the Bob Skilton Medal in 2019, and served as co-captain from 2019 to 2023. In this year's finals series, Rampe stepped in as captain when Callum Mills suffered an ACL injury.
He said the decision was hard but that he had nothing left to give. John Longmire, who coached him in 251 games, called him the most trusted player he had ever coached.
Rampe ranks among the Swans' all-time greats alongside Adam Goodes, Jarrad McVeigh and Jude Bolton.
