Bathurst targets foodie tourism with year-long culture program
Bathurst wants to be a top food destination, like Mudgee and Orange. It's launching BX After Dark, a year-long cultural program.
A new year-long program called BX After Dark launches in August. The program matches the city's old buildings and restaurants with evening events.
The program starts with The Wandering Table roaming dinner on November 13-14. Fancy farm stays like Wilga Station offer places to stay for visitors.
Wilga Station is a 105-hectare property outside Bathurst. The push uses growing restaurant options including Norma Joan, Pique-Nique and chef Matt Moran's venue at the Rockley Pub.
It sees Bathurst's gold-rush history and closeness to Sydney as unused tourism chances.
