One Nation crushes Liberals in WA by-election as Hastie's seat crumbles

One Nation won Secret Harbour with 57 per cent while the Liberal candidate crashed to just 17 per cent.

One Nation has won the Secret Harbour by-election decisively, taking 57 per cent of the two-candidate preferred vote against Labor's Georgia Tree. The Liberal candidate got just 17 per cent of the primary vote in this coastal outer-suburban electorate.

The seat sits mostly within Liberal frontbencher Andrew Hastie's federal electorate of Canning. Opposition leader Angus Taylor avoided questions about the poor Liberal result, letting Nationals leader Matt Canavan answer at a Canberra press conference.

Hastie has intensified his battle with One Nation, calling Pauline Hanson and Barnaby Joyce "lying cowards" this week.
