Holden Dealer Team reveals three prototypes for new road car
Owner Kenny Habul is building three prototypes of a new HDT road car, the brand's most substantial project in decades.
The Holden Dealer Team is back under new owner Kenny Habul, who plans restoration and retro-modding services for the iconic 1980s Brock Commodore. The bigger story is the new road-going model.
Habul confirmed this week the team is working on three prototypes. "There is a lot of work to do before we have an HDT-reimagined car to present, but there is a fundamental recipe that I think will be very impressive," he said.
Habul is a two-time Bathurst 12 Hour winner and friend of Brock. He understands the weight of reviving a treasured brand.
HDT grew from its Bathurst-winning roots into a road-car maker in the late 1970s, selling street-legal performance versions to fund Brock's race team.

Why it mattersA new HDT model would be Australia's first homegrown performance car since the Ford Falcon FG X in 2018, reigniting a dormant piece of local automotive heritage.
AustraliaIf completed, this would be the first Australian-built high-performance car in eight years, reviving a manufacturing segment that largely disappeared when Holden ceased operations in 2020.
