Ballarat court labels swimming coach serial family violence perpetrator

A 47-year-old former swimming coach is now called a serial family violence offender. He broke intervention orders many times.

He pleaded guilty to breaking family violence court orders several times. He also failed to answer bail in Ballarat Magistrates' Court.

From June through June 2025, he repeatedly broke a no-contact order. He made phone calls and had unwanted contact with a victim.

Police went to a victim's home. She was very drunk and was taken to hospital.

His records show assault convictions with at least four partners over nine years. In December 2023, he assaulted a former partner.

He broke orders protecting another partner and her two children. In 2021, he punched a different partner in the face.

Magistrate Mike Wardell noted the pattern. He said 'nothing is going to stop him from doing what he wants if it involves a relationship, a woman and violence.'

Sentencing is set for November 12.
