Accused officer tested gun muffling before alleged murders, trial hears
Beau Lamarre-Condon allegedly tested firing a police gun in a park and sought to buy a silencer weeks before the deaths.
A former friend of accused officer Beau Lamarre-Condon told a jury he tested firing his police gun in a national park in early 2024. This was weeks before he is accused of killing TV presenter Jesse Baird and Qantas host Luke Davies.
The friend said Lamarre-Condon asked if gunshots could be heard inside a house. On a second shot, Lamarre-Condon put the gun in a paper bag before firing to muffle the sound.
The friend also said Lamarre-Condon wanted to buy a gun silencer while on holiday in Bali in late 2023. He said he needed it for hunting on a friend's farm.
Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty to the February 2024 murders. He is arguing self-defence in NSW Supreme Court.
