Turnbull Stakes proceeds at Flemington amid Victoria's rain
Flemington is proceeding with the Turnbull Stakes despite a Heavy 10 track rating after Victoria received nearly 79 millimetres of rain in a week.
Heavy rain has soaked Victoria over the past week, with Flemington receiving 79.2 millimetres in the past seven days. Despite this, stewards approved racing at Flemington for the Turnbull Stakes, rating the track Heavy 10 and declaring it safe to proceed.
Two country meetings, the Gunbower Gold Cup and Murtoa Cup, were abandoned due to waterlogging. Murtoa received 42 millimetres of overnight rain and Gunbower 23 millimetres, leaving surface water unsuitable for racing.
