Two anglers rescued after boat battery fails near Swansea rocks
Marine Rescue NSW pulled two fishermen to safety after their boat drifted 30 metres from rocks during an emergency near Moon Island.
Two anglers got into trouble when their fishing boat suffered a battery failure near Moon Island off Swansea on Saturday. The boat anchored while they tried to fix the engine.
The weather worsened and the anchor rope snapped. The disabled boat started drifting toward a rocky outcrop in choppy conditions while the exhausted crew tried to paddle away.
A rescue vessel from Lake Macquarie raced out and reached them just as they were about 30 metres from the rocks. The crew secured the boat and safely towed both fishermen and their vessel back to shore.
