Former Liberal MP Smith joins One Nation's NSW upper house race
former Wollondilly MP Nathaniel Smith is now seeking a One Nation upper house ticket spot after losing to an independent.
Smith once showed John Howard's corflute on his work van. Smith is now hosting fundraisers with One Nation leader Mike Newman.
A private lunch costs $2000. A public event in Oran Park costs $175.
Smith lost his NSW seat to independent Judy Hannan at the last election. He also ran for Whitlam federally.
Other former Liberals seeking One Nation spots include ex-Senator Hollie Hughes, ex-Warringah candidate Katherine Deves, and ex-upper house MP Lou Amato. Some One Nation members are frustrated by the arrival of old politicians.
They warn the party risks losing its anti-establishment identity. Newman said the party welcomes candidates from different backgrounds as long as they agree with One Nation's values.
