150 workers back at Tahmoor mine as GM3 buyout settles
About 150 workers have returned to the NSW mine after the new owner settled its purchase deal this week.
The Tahmoor mine officially changed hands on Wednesday when the GM3 consortium (GEAR/M Resources) completed its takeover from Sanjeev Gupta's collapsed company. Work has already restarted in a limited way, with about 150 miners back on site.
The NSW resources minister said more staff are expected soon as the new owner looks to ramp up operations over the coming months. Before closure in February 2025, the mine employed about 400 workers.
The extended closure has created hardship for families across the Wollondilly region. It remains unclear whether GM3 will eventually rehire the entire workforce.
