Southwest Metro residents report loud station announcements
Residents near Sydney's southwest metro line are complaining about noisy platform announcements echoing into their homes.
Since opening Friday, Sydney's new southwest metro line has faced complaints from nearby residents about loud platform announcements. Sydney Metro CEO Camilla Drover confirmed the issue on Saturday and said technicians had been sent to investigate.
Premier Chris Minns said he was aware of the noise concerns and noted that residents are adjusting to a new system. The metro set a record with 300,000 passengers on its first day, including some 42,000 at the 10 new stations stretching from Bankstown to Marrickville.
Drover said 98.5 per cent of trains were on time. The fleet of pink replacement buses will be withdrawn on Sunday night, ending a two-year interim service.
