Chris Fagan has stepped down as the Lions coach following the club's dramatic Grand Final win over Fremantle on Saturday. Chris Fagan leaves after three premierships in 10 seasons, finishing with a record of 148 wins, 93 losses and two draws from 243 games.
Fagan said telling the players and staff was "one of the hardest things I've done in my life". Chris Fagan plans to move to Melbourne to be closer to family.
The Lions now need to find a new coach to attempt a historic four-peat next season, a feat unseen in the VFL/AFL since Collingwood won back-to-back-to-back-to-back from 1927 to 1930. Fagan praised backline coach Dale Morris and midfield coach Cam Bruce as possible replacements.
