NSW rejects bridge repair funding as route stays closed
NSW government refused council requests for repair funding, leaving Foxlow Bridge closed indefinitely and forcing long detours.
Foxlow Bridge in southern NSW has been closed for safety reasons. When the council built a replacement nearby on Briars Sharrow Road, it discovered major defects, forcing both routes to shut.
The council asked the state for emergency funding to repair Foxlow Bridge or build a temporary crossing. NSW Roads Minister Jenny Aitchison rejected the request, saying limited grant funding was available.
The council is exploring alternatives, including repairs or using an old railway corridor to bypass the closure.
