Spang scores on South Hobart debut after six-year journey from Dubbo
Jesse Spang made his Australian Championship debut for South Hobart and scored in his first game last month.
In Spang's debut match for South Hobart, he scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Brisbane's Lions in October. The Dubbo-born striker had just joined Tasmania for the second tier of Australian football after six years climbing through Sydney clubs.
Jesse Spang played for Northern Tigers in 2026, scoring 17 goals across 34 games before moving south. Before Sydney, Spang won the golden boot at Macquarie United in Dubbo's Western Premier League in 2020.
Family members, especially his dad and older brother Tyler, trained with him from the start. Football mentors in Dubbo, including Alan Auld and Paul Crain, helped shape his path.
Moving to Sydney alone at the end of 2020, Spang said football was his only focus.
