Rutherglen signs ruckman Tom Goodwin for 150th anniversary campaign
Regional football club Rutherglen has signed experienced ruckman Tom Goodwin to address a key recruiting priority for the 2027 season.
Rutherglen has brought in Tom Goodwin, an experienced ruckman who played VFL football with Box Hill, Coburg and Port Melbourne. Goodwin is a former Coburg best and fairest winner and captain who represented Victoria in 2017.
The signing fills a major gap in the Cats' squad as they build toward their 150th anniversary season. Playing coach Cam Barrett said Goodwin will help develop the club's young ruckmen.
Barrett also flagged he is close to finishing recruitment, wary of too many new players blocking chances for those who have worked hard in recent years. The club has room to strengthen further if needed under the league's salary cap.
