Caulfield Cup 2026: Elegance won against excess in fashion

Olivia Molly Rogers, Lucy Elam and Bonnie Lane showed tailored elegance at the 150th Caulfield Cup.

The 150th Caulfield Cup drew large crowds of twenty-somethings in corseted tulle and risky hemlines. Some were in corseted tulle.

But the old hands knew what they were doing. Olivia Molly Rogers wore a custom blush pink jacket and tulle skirt by local atelier Oglia Loro Couture.

She paired it with a custom Melissa Jackson hat. Lucy Elam floated past in a soft blue dress by Perth label Deconduarte.

Its textured scarf draped elegantly at her waist. She matched it with silver Bellini shoes and a matching Novo bag.

Bonnie Lane nailed elevated whimsy in a Leo Lin mini dress. It featured embellished lemons and oranges.

A black fascinator gave a distinguished edge. Race wear should be elegant and not party wear, said Lane.

She follows her mother's golden rule: if the dress is above the knee, cover the top.

Why it mattersFashion at the races rewards restraint and quality tailoring over bare skin and tulle, a lesson that stands out when excess dominates the crowd.

AustraliaMelbourne race fans and Australian fashion watchers saw how to dress at the track with elegance rather than exposure, setting a tone for future racing events.
