Woman convicted after assaulting ex-partner in courthouse foyer

Carlie Pendergast pleaded guilty to assaulting her husband's ex-partner in the Albury courthouse foyer and breaching a domestic violence order.

A woman has been convicted after assaulting another woman in the foyer of Albury courthouse on June 30. Carlie Pendergast, 34, saw her husband's ex-partner sitting in the foyer and began recording her on her phone.

Recording is strictly forbidden in court precincts. When the other woman started recording back, Pendergast grabbed her phone and shoved her in the face, then left.

The phone cracked. Pendergast also breached a domestic violence order on July 15 involving the same victim at Mulwala.

She pleaded guilty to common assault, damaging property and breaching the order. The judge noted a long-running conflict between the two.

Pendergast is a mother of three with a 10-year gap in offending before these charges. She was placed on a six-month community corrections order and fined $550 for damaging the phone and $530 for breaching the order.
