Bondi beach terror trial delayed until February
Naveed Akram's trial for the Bondi beach shooting is postponed to 24 February. Investigators need more time to finish their work.
Naveed Akram, 24, faces 78 charges, including 15 counts of murder. Akram allegedly killed 15 people and injured 40 at a Hanukah festival on Bondi beach in December.
Sajid Akram, the defendant's father, was also involved but was shot dead by police at the scene. The case returned to court Wednesday.
Prosecutors asked for more time to complete their work. A prosecutor told the judge the investigation was "unprecedented" in scale.
It involves thousands of witness statements, medical records and footage from the attack. Victims' families will be consulted before charges are officially approved.
