Independent review ordered into Adelaide hospital corridor death
Independent review ordered into Helen Sargent's death after lying unattended on a hospital corridor.
South Australia will hold an independent review into Helen Sargent's death at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Hospital footage showed she lay unattended for over an hour on a corridor bed before she died in October 2025.
Three earlier reviews found her placement on the corridor did not cause her death, but her family and opposition politicians called for a deeper inquiry. Health Minister Blair Boyer said the review must check whether earlier findings were right.
An outside reviewer, independent of SA Health and the hospital, will lead the inquiry. It is expected to start within six months.
