Hurricane Lala came first, bringing hurricane-force winds to the Big Island in August for the first time since 1871. The Pacific hurricane season has been very active.
There have been 14 named storms and five hurricanes so far. This makes it the most active start since 2021.
Hurricane Marie followed Lowell and sent big waves to Southern California. The season does not end until November 30.
