Adrian Portelli's 99c fuel deal creates massive Adelaide traffic jams

A one-day fuel promotion by Adrian Portelli at his Adelaide servo drew huge traffic queues.

Adrian Portelli's newly opened LMCT+ fuel station in Edwardstown, Adelaide, saw hundreds of drivers queue for metres along Daws Rd on Saturday when he dropped unleaded petrol to just 99 cents a litre. Traffic controllers managed the influx as vehicles banked up and disrupted one of Adelaide's busiest arterial roads.

Portelli paid for the traffic management himself and posted on social media confirming he would "pump through this line". Portelli said jerry cans would be banned to prevent hoarding.

The LMCT+ membership model charges customers $99 a year to access fuel sold at wholesale prices. Portelli said neighbouring petrol stations had already dropped their prices to compete, so he decided to go further.
