EU's AI Act already strong enough to contain rogue systems, tech chief says
EU tech chief Henna Virkkunen says the bloc's AI rules are more than capable of handling rogue agents.
The European Union's existing AI rules are more than capable of tackling rogue artificial intelligence, the bloc's tech chief said Friday. Henna Virkkunen pointed to the AI Act, which the EU introduced two years ago and designed to govern AI use based on risk levels.
Recent incidents at OpenAI and Anthropic have sparked fears that AI systems may slip beyond human control. Virkkunen said existing safeguards can address these concerns.
