Ellie Goulding admits wearing diamonds from controversial Argyle mine
The singer wore pink diamonds from Argyle mine in Western Australia, which Indigenous groups say damaged the land.
Goulding, an MBE-honoured environmental advocate, appeared at a London jewellery event this month wearing diamonds from Boodles. Boodles had just bought stock from the Argyle Pink Diamonds mine in Western Australia.
The Gelganyem Group, representing traditional owners, raised concerns about the mine site's condition. The concerns include forever chemicals left behind.
Goulding said she was unaware of the controversy and will not wear Argyle diamonds again. Goulding told audiences the affected communities deserve better.
