Avatr's T09 luxury SUV targets Zeekr 9X, but is years away
Changan's Avatr Concept T09 is a three-row luxury SUV, with a launch that may be 24 to 36 months away.
Changan Automobile has shown its Avatr Concept T09 to Australian media on the eve of the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The three-row luxury SUV is aimed at the Zeekr 9X, Audi Q9, BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
The car is only a concept, though, and the finished version is still years away. Changan Australia's Andrew Haurissa said the car may still be 24 to 36 months from launch.
Haurissa said Australians may not see the finished car before 2029. Filings from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology suggest a plug-in hybrid.
Petrol engines in 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre sizes would be paired with an electric motor on each axle. The power is believed to exceed 630kW, and top speed is said to exceed 220km/h.
The SUV weighs around three tonnes and is nearly 5.3 metres long.

Why it mattersAnyone shopping for a big luxury SUV should know this one is years from showrooms.
AustraliaNo direct Australian effect yet, because the finished car may not arrive before 2029. Official pricing and a firm Australian launch date would change that.
