Immersive art exhibition creates psychedelic wonderland from swift parrot crisis
Artist Rosie Deacon made over 750 parrot sculptures inspired by the endangered swift parrot.
Bendigo Town Hall becomes a colorful art installation from October 1 to December 13, featuring Rosie Deacon's Thrifty Swifty exhibition. The space has more than 750 handmade parrot sculptures made from various materials.
Each one is inspired by the endangered swift parrot. The artist wanted exactly 750 sculptures.
This matched the swift parrots believed left in the wild. Visitors see hundreds of parrots in an immersive, psychedelic environment.
The exhibition partners with CHARGE!, a dramatic immersive experience from Back to Back Theatre and ACMI. This experience reimagines Shakespeare's Henry V in a modern paper factory.
