Gaza memorial exhibition banned by Shoalhaven now showing at Port Kembla
Phil Buehler's Wall of Tears lists 18,457 children killed in Gaza, opening at Port Kembla after Shoalhaven cancelled it over safety fears.
The 15-metre work was set for Shoalhaven Regional Gallery. The council pulled it after a safety review.
The review said metal detectors and armed guards were needed. Port Kembla's Servo's NASA Gallery will now host it instead.
The installation lists names of 18,457 children killed in Gaza between October 7, 2023 and July 19, 2025. Gallery manager James Spink said the piece deserves to be shown as important art that starts conversation.
Organisers called the Shoalhaven decision very disappointing and stressed the exhibition's power to move viewers.
