Mosman Park sets 400m buffer to keep fast-food away from schools
Mosman Park council voted unanimously to advertise draft planning rules banning fast-food outlets within 400 metres of schools and childcare centres.
The Town of Mosman Park voted unanimously on Tuesday to advertise a new draft planning policy. The policy sets a 400-metre buffer from schools, childcare and recreation facilities.
The town also seeks to prevent too many outlets in one area. New outlets on Stirling Highway must be part of mixed-use residential developments.
Drive-throughs must fit at least 10 cars on-site without blocking roads or pedestrian paths. The policy includes design standards, noise controls, bin screening and light limits.
