Homeschooled sisters make Tasmanian tennis team in three years
Sisters Zara and Alyssa went from no tennis background to top 15 junior players in Tasmania in three years.
Zara, 13, and Alyssa, 11, moved to Newstead and discovered tennis three years ago. Zara and Alyssa now represent Tasmania and are ranked inside the top 15 junior girls players in the state.
The pair train multiple times daily near their home on Hart Street courts and have weekly coaching with Mat Carswell. Mat Carswell says their work rate is exceptional and they listen and improve rapidly.
Homeschooling lets them fit in extra training sessions. The sisters also became the 99th and 100th athletes supported by the Heart and Hustle fund, which offers $200 sponsorships to junior Tasmanian athletes competing nationally.
