Wollongong's Dicey Riley's has been named a finalist in the Australian Hotels Association's People's Choice Award for NSW's most popular pub. Ten finalists were selected, and voters have until October 18 to cast their votes in the second round.

Dicey Riley's has been open since 1893. Publican George Poulos described the pub as an oasis.

People can escape the hustle and bustle there and simply be themselves, he said. Other finalists include the Bull and Bush Hotel in Medowie, Northies Cronulla, and the Oran Park Hotel.

The winner will be announced at a gala awards event on October 27 at Royal Randwick Racecourse.
