Man admitted threatening ex-partner on TikTok, denied bail pending sentencing
A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty to death threats via TikTok; bail was refused.
The man made threats across three days in July 2026 after his ex-partner messaged him on TikTok asking about her jewellery. The man warned her not to tell police, threatened that associates would harm her, and left a voicemail threatening to kill both her and her mother.
Police arrested him later that month. The man pleaded guilty this week in ACT Magistrates Court to two charges of using a carriage service to make a threat to kill, while other charges were withdrawn.
His lawyer argued he had post-traumatic stress disorder and had spent more than three months in custody since arrest. The prosecution opposed bail, and the special magistrate agreed, keeping him detained.
