UC Caps sign American guard Meg McConnell for 2026-27 season
American guard Meg McConnell joins UC Capitals from Bendigo Spirit as Jade Melbourne moves in the opposite direction.
UC Capitals have signed American guard Meg McConnell for the 2026-27 WNBL season starting 17 October. McConnell, the younger sister of NBA player TJ, arrives from Bendigo Spirit and replaces Jade Melbourne who leaves after six seasons.
Coach Paul Goriss praised McConnell's speed, defence and ability to finish through contact. Last season in the WNBL, McConnell averaged 11 points, six rebounds and four assists per game.
The Caps kept three players from last year and signed seven newcomers. They aim for a top-five playoff finish in the expanded nine-team competition.
