Dr Leslie Bolitho banned from applying for medical registration for one year
Seven junior female doctors were touched, and in some cases the tribunal found it was for a sexual purpose.
Dr Leslie Bolitho, a veteran doctor, has been banned from applying for medical registration for one year. The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard he touched seven junior female doctors between 2014 and 2018.
In some cases, the tribunal found the touching was for a sexual purpose. Junior doctors tried to avoid physical contact with him.
He was meant to set cultural standards. He said most of the behaviour likely happened.
He argued his conduct was either innocent but overly friendly, or unintended. The tribunal rejected that argument for specific conduct toward two doctors.
The members said his responses indicated a sense of entitlement. They also said his responses did not show insight into the power imbalance.
The tribunal found it unlikely he would ever work in a health service again. Concerns were also raised that his conduct could be criminal.
