Concreter gets good behaviour order after punching McDonald's worker
A 19-year-old concreter received a 12-month good behaviour undertaking after assaulting a McDonald's worker in Wodonga.
Kaydn Olsen, 19, punched a fast-food worker in the face on October 25 last year near a McDonald's in Birallee. The victim claimed he received between eight and 15 blows; Olsen told police he only delivered one or two.
Olsen said the victim was "being cheeky" and later told police he felt bad about it. The victim went to the McDonald's, where his manager called emergency services.
Olsen had no prior criminal record and works as a concreter with a young family. Magistrate Megan Casey placed him on a 12-month good behaviour undertaking and ordered him to write an apology letter to the victim.
The magistrate said too many young men faced court for random acts of violence.

Why it mattersThe sentence reflects how courts respond to unprovoked street assaults and the risks random violence creates for workers and the public.
