Launceston teen named NSW Swifts training partner after Sydney gamble paid off
Paige O'Neill, 19, was named a training partner for NSW Swifts after moving from Launceston to Sydney and overcoming homesickness.
Paige O'Neill packed up her life in Launceston and moved to Sydney to chase netball, despite being scared and unsure. The 19-year-old defender almost came home when homesickness hit hard, but her mum convinced her to stick it out.
Paige O'Neill was player of the match in the Cavaliers' TNL grand final win in 2025 and most valuable player in NSW's under-19 championship final. Now she's been named a training partner for NSW Swifts for next season after just eight months in the city.
She'll also play in scrimmages against the Australian Diamonds as they prepare for the Constellation Cup.
