Teen guilty of planning white supremacist terrorist attack in Canberra
An 18-year-old has pleaded guilty to two terrorism charges after planning a white supremacy-inspired attack that could have caused deaths.
The teen, arrested in November 2025 and now 18, pleaded guilty in ACT Supreme Court to acts in preparation of a terrorist act. As he was a minor at the time of arrest, he cannot be named due to his age.
Police found materials to make chlorine gas, gas masks, military-style clothing and documents relating to Nazism during a raid on his bedroom. In court, he admitted collecting gases and equipment that could be used to cause death or serious harm.
He also admitted acting to advance white supremacy and wanted to intimidate government or the public. This makes him the first person in the ACT to be sentenced for planning to commit a terrorist act.
Sentencing is expected in the first half of 2027. He remains in custody.
