Mitsubishi plans new compact and small SUVs under Pajero name
Mitsubishi's CEO announced the brand will expand the iconic Pajero nameplate. It will now include compact and small SUV models.
Mitsubishi Motors announced it will expand the Pajero family beyond the flagship model shown in Tokyo. The company said the all-new Pajero will lead an expanded range of smaller SUVs wearing the 44-year-old nameplate.
A report from Nikkei Asia says Mitsubishi plans to launch a Toyota RAV4-sized SUV in 2028 or 2029. It will be built on a new in-house platform.
The new model would be better at off-road driving than the ageing Outlander. Mitsubishi has previously sold smaller Pajero variants globally, including the Pajero Mini, Junior, iO, and Sport.
The current Outlander is almost six years old and could be due for a major refresh.
