Woonona Surf Club to get new cafe and first major upgrade in decades
The Woonona Surf Club will add a waterfront cafe and new facilities, funded by NSW Government.
Woonona Surf Club has applied to Wollongong City Council to renovate its Kurraba Road clubhouse. The clubhouse first opened in 1962 and has not been renovated since.
The NSW Government's Surf Club Facility Program is paying for the work. A shipping-container style cafe is planned.
It will operate from 6am to 3pm, seven days per week, including public holidays. A maximum of three staff will work there.
The renovation includes a first-floor terrace facing the water. This helps lifesavers see the beach better.
A new barbecue area, upgraded kitchen and bar facilities, and lift access are also included. The development application is on public display until November 10.
