Greg Moore leads sprawling region with drones, youth programs, family violence
Assistant Commissioner Greg Moore takes charge of NSW's largest police command spanning 520,000 square kilometres and 1,100 officers.
Greg Moore has stepped into the top job for Western NSW Police. Greg Moore now leads more than 1,100 officers.
The region stretches from Armidale to Broken Hill and from Cowra to Walgett. The region has some of the state's highest rates of domestic violence.
Moore said domestic incidents will always be among his top priorities. Moore said he will take a zero-tolerance approach to illegal firearms.
This follows the Lake Cargelligo murders in January 2026 and the Bondi shooting response. Drone trials are running in Moree.
Authorities are looking at extending the technology to other areas. Moore also plans to bring youth cadet programs from Sydney to Western NSW.
He also plans to focus on recruiting officers in regional towns.
