Lauren turns breast cancer grief into art and health awareness
A woman who lost three generations to breast cancer now raises funds through art events that normalise screening.
Lauren Sutherland is running an art event called Bare it for Breast Cancer on 18 October at a Canberra pub. Three live models will pose for sketch artists while BreastScreen ACT answers questions about mammograms and health checks.
Half the ticket money goes to the screening service. Lauren lost her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to breast cancer.
She believes the more open people are about their bodies, the sooner they'll seek help. Early detection makes treatment work better.
