Anthony Bell buys record-holder Comanche for Sydney to Hobart attempt
Anthony Bell purchased the record-holding Comanche supermaxi, which will race as Tribeca Loyal on Boxing Day.
Sydney to Hobart racing returns in December with a star-studded contender. Anthony Bell has bought Comanche, the five-time line honours winner and current race record holder.
The boat will race as Tribeca Loyal on Boxing Day. Bell, who won the Hobart in 2011 and 2016, recruited Olympic gold medallist Tom Slingsby as sailing master.
Slingsby calls the supermaxi the most powerful in the world. "It reaches really high speeds," he says.
"If we get the right conditions, we can break the record by a lot." The crew includes rugby legends and other athletes.
They are raising funds for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, which supplies life-saving infant medical equipment to Australian hospitals.
