Fully Lit chases Big Dance prize after knee surgery comeback
Five-year-old Fully Lit returns to racing after knee surgery to contest the $3 million Big Dance on Tuesday.
Fully Lit won the Group 3 Cameron Handicap to earn a spot in the Big Dance at Randwick, despite recovery from knee surgery to remove a bone chip. Jockey Regan Bayliss, a six-time Group 1 winner, has ridden Fully Lit in three races this preparation and is optimistic about their chances.
Bayliss won the 2023 Big Dance on a different horse and said Fully Lit is in terrific form. The draw of 15 is challenging in a field packed with speed, but Bayliss believes Fully Lit has the tactical pace to stay competitive throughout the 1600-metre race.
The horse had a month between runs and a trial workout before Tuesday.
