Caleb Serong says Fremantle's narrow loss proves they belong in the premiership race.
Fremantle led by 17 points with four minutes to play in Saturday's Grand Final before Brisbane staged an improbable comeback to steal the cup. In the rooms after the loss, Serong said the hurt was real but pride ran deeper.
"Today just gave me even more belief in what we're capable of," he told AFL.com.au. Serong said there were no more question marks about the team's ability to deliver a premiership.
"We showed that we belong here. This is where we belong and we'll go about making sure we get back here."
Serong acknowledged the loss stung because the team put everything on the line. He believed the club would return and go one step further next year.
