Construction starts on 105-home retirement village in Bendigo
Work has begun on Elleston Village, a retirement community with 105 homes for over-55s and up to 60 jobs.
Construction has started on the former Central City Caravan Park site at High Street and Beech Street in Golden Square. The site sat empty since closing in late 2017.
Elleston Village is a resort-style retirement village for over-55s. Two-bedroom homes start at $520,000 and three-bedroom homes start at $550,000.
Residents own their homes but pay $245 weekly to lease the land. The village is expected to include a theatre, pool, and library.
About $3 million is expected to flow to local suppliers and contractors. Building company Avard Civil is leading the work and director Glenn A'Vard said the project will support up to 60 workers.
