BCivil Recruitment charged after worker killed on Western Highway

WorkSafe charged BCivil Recruitment after a worker was killed by a truck while packing road signs.

A traffic management company has been charged with failing to provide and maintain a safe system of work. A 55-year-old worker was fatally hit by a truck on the Western Highway at Lawloit in January.

The worker died at the scene while packing up road signs. BCivil Recruitment Pty Ltd faces two charges: failing to provide and maintain a safe system of work and failing to protect others from health and safety risks.

WorkSafe alleged the company breached safety standards by not having workers attend to signs in the direction of traffic. They allowed workers to cross live lanes.
