The Vikings Group won court approval for a new 800-capacity club in Jerrabomberra after local council and neighbours rejected the original plan. Vikings had wanted to build a 1300-person venue but the NSW Land and Environment Court scaled it back.
The court blocked Stage 2, which would have added an upper floor and multi-storey car park. The club will include a gaming lounge with poker machines, estimated at 120 to 150 units.
Vikings moved to NSW because the ACT government has clamped down on poker machines. The poker machines are estimated to generate $13 to $16 million yearly.
